Senior Pastor
Pastor Griffith and his wife Cindy were married in 1980. They have three wonderful children: Katie and her husband George, Mary and her husband Jonathan, and Luke and his wife August. God has also blessed the Griffith’s with 4 grandchildren. Doug was born in Lancaster, PA. As he grew up his family lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, and Connecticut. He became a Christian in high school in 1972. Doug attended Furman University in Greenville, SC from 1975-1979 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree. After sensing a call to ministry he attended Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO from 1979-1984 where he received a Master of Divinity degree, and was ordained in 1984 as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in America. Doug served as a part time Youth Pastor at Concord Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, Ill. from 1980-1982 while attending seminary. He served as a Youth Pastor and Assistant Pastor at Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC from 1982-1986. His responsibilities at Second Presbyterian included college, small groups, youth, evangelism, community benevolence, and pastoral duties. He then served as an Associate Pastor at Westminster Presbyterian in Atlanta, GA from 1986-1990. His responsibilities at Westminster included singles, college, evangelism and outreach, small groups, and pastoral duties. In 1990 Doug and his family moved to Peachtree City and he became the Church Planter and Organizing Pastor of Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church. In 2005 Doug received an earned Doctor of Ministry from Covenant Theological Seminary and his thesis was: “The Impact of the Theology of Union With Christ on the Relational Ministry of the Pastorate.” His wife, Cindy, has been a great help and support to Doug and the church. Rev. Dr. Timothy Gwin
Associate Pastor
Pastor Tim is a covenant child and a Peachtree City native. He is blessed to be married to Rosie. They lived in Colorado the first 2 years of marriage, where Tim was employed in the natural foods industry. It was during that time when he began attending seminary at New Geneva Theological Seminary in Colorado Springs. While in Colorado he helped lead the youth ministry at Redeemer PCA in Parker, Colorado, which Carriage Lane helped plant. After three years, the Gwins were transferred back to Atlanta. Tim transferred to Reformed Theological Seminary’s Atlanta campus where he completed a Master Of Theological Studies in 2004. He then transferred to Reformed Theological Seminary’s Orlando campus and graduated with a Master of Divinity in 2006. In May 2011 Tim graduated again from Reformed Theological Seminary with a Master of Theology. His emphasis has been in Reformation Theology with a concentrated study of John Calvin’s Theology of the Christian Life. Tim completed his doctoral dissertation on Calvin and the Psalms as the handbook for the Christian Life through Erskine Theological Seminary’s Institute For Reformed Worship and gradutated in May of 2016. Pastor Tim’s ministry focuses upon the preaching and teaching of God’s inspired and infallible Word with an emphasis upon men’s discipleship. In addition to preaching on Sunday mornings when Doug is away, Tim preaches the Sunday evening service, and leads a Men’s study on Wednesday nights. For eight years Tim led the college ministry at Carriage Lane. For the past several years he has focused on developing the spiritual growth of the church through God’s means of grace, the men’s ministry, the Wednesday evening prayer meeting, and the weekly family worship guide. After six years of leading the Good News Bible Club, one of CLPC’s gospel outreach programs, Pastor Tim was asked to teach at the Metro Atlanta Seminary. He currently teaches as an adjuct professor at MAS. MAS is the Metro Atlanta Presbytery’s school for preparing men of various ages and backgrounds to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ in their unique communities. Pastor Tim has worked with every age group at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church. Rev Sam Hogan
Assistant Pastor of Youth
Pastor Sam is a covenant child of Carriage Lane and returned in 2018 to serve students and their parents as the Youth Pastor. Sam grew up in Peachtree City, graduating from McIntosh High School in 2005, followed by obtaining a degree in Community Development from Covenant College in 2009. Sam then spent the next few years in sports ministry serving with Mission to the World in the countries of Sweden and then Bulgaria. During that time, he began sensing a call into pastoral ministry. In 2012, the Lord brought him to Reformed Theological Seminary in Atlanta. He graduated in 2015 with a Masters of Divinity. Throughout seminary, Sam interned at Carriage Lane and helped to lead the young adult ministry and served in the youth ministry. In 2015, he accepted a call to become an Assistant Pastor of Youth at Crossroads PCA in Middletown, DE. It was during his time there that he both met and married his amazing wife, Alyssa. Sam and Alyssa have been married since January 2017. Rev. Adam Peeler
Assistant Pastor of Children and Families
Pastor Adam started coming to Carriage Lane at a young age. He grew up as part of a covenant family and has grown in His love for the Lord and His church. He met his wife Jessica in the youth ministry at Carriage Lane. They have enjoyed being married since 2002, and have been blessed to have nine children, seven biological and two adopted. He received his Bachelor’s in Technology Management from Clayton College and State University. His previous work experience includes airline, automotive, manufacturing, and serving on staff at a local private school for children with learning differences for 7 years. He felt the Lord calling him into full-time ministry and graduated from Metro Atlanta Seminary in May 2016 with a Master’s of Divinity. After serving as a Pastoral Intern at Carriage Lane, he was called to become the Pastor of Children’s Ministry. Dr. Alex Trygstad
Director of Worship and Music
Alex Trygstad is committed to leading others in “Let[ting] the word of Christ dwell in [us] richly, … singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in [our] hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16) Alex received his musical training from Baylor University (BM in Viola Performance) and the Eastman School of Music (DMA and MM in Viola Performance & Literature and MA in Pedagogy of Music Theory). From 2014-2020, he served as a part-time college instructor at the Eastman School of Music, Cornell University, Nazareth College, and Roberts Wesleyan College teaching viola, chamber music, music theory, aural skills, and music fundamentals, and he has taught private viola and violin lessons since 2004. He was ordained as a Ruling Elder in the PCA in 2018 where he served the congregation of Grace Church in Rochester, NY, until 2020. Alex began serving the church through music in high school where he led his youth group in worship. He continued in college leading RUF large-group worship and after leading congregational worship at his local church for 9 years, he sensed a call to transition from academia into full-time music ministry. He is a pianist, violist, violinist, singer, and dabbler in most instruments that have strings (including the hammered dulcimer). His ongoing work as a hymn-writer flows from a commitment to serving the ministry of the Word in his local church context, and his first collection of original hymns, Christ, Our Hope, will be released in the fall of 2020. Alex and his wife, Katy, have been married since 2009, and the Lord has blessed them with three children: Anders, Jonathan, and Elanor.

Grace Swartz
Administrative Assistant
Grace married her husband, Dan, in 1980. The Lord blessed them with three children, Ryan, Michele, and Justin. Now empty-nesters, they are enjoying their new roles as “Gigi” and “Papa” to their grandsons, Ephraim and Oliver (sons of Michele and Anton). Grace grew up as a PK (Preacher’s Kid) in Western Pennsylvania. She graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Elementary Education. She and Dan served for 21 years with Campus Crusade for Christ in California and Georgia. They have been members of Carriage Lane since 1991. Grace has worked at CLPC since April 2002, first as a secretarial assistant, later as Children’s Ministry Director and since mid-2005 as Administrative Assistant. Jean Chamblee
Secretarial Assistant
Jean and her family have made Carriage Lane their church home for the past twelve years. She and her husband John have been married 32 years and been blessed with two grown children, Jarrod and Jennifer. Jean received her Early Childhood Education Degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has experience teaching a wide range of ages and grade levels. At Carriage Lane, she spent six years as as teacher for the four-year-olds’ Sunday School and served four years as the Nursery Ministry Coordinator. In 2009, she felt called to serve as part of the Cherokee Mission Team and continues to serve as a Middle School Girls mentor on the team. She presently serves as a Youth Shepherd and Discipleship Leader for the 12th grade girls. She treasures the scripture verses from Colossians 3:23-24. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. Mercer Hill
Sexton
Mercer is a native of Augusta, GA. He attended Augusta College and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Delta Airlines for more than 31 years before retiring in 2002. Mercer came to work at Carriage Lane in 2003 and with all of his handy skills and hard work, quickly became indespensible. Mercer has been involved in ministry through facilitating support groups, leading Bible studies and small groups and lay counseling.
